Shaheen holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from K J Somaiya School of Engineering and an M.Eng. in Engineering Management from Cornell University. A Somaiya alumna, she organized the 2025 Somaiya alumni reunion series across Michigan, Southern California, Bay Area & Boston and has volunteered on U.S. matters for the Somaiya ecosystem.

Before that, he was at Village Capital, where he led programs and investments in impact ventures, and was a Chief Minister's Fellow with the Government of Maharashtra. He studied electronics engineering at K J Somaiya School of Engineering and managed programs at riidl.

He earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a BS in Chemical Engineering, summa cum laude, from Northwestern University. He credits a Somaiya physics professor who tutored him without payment for shaping his path.

Before law school, she worked for two years in science policy as a Senior Program Assistant at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Washington, DC, and for a year as a healthcare paralegal. She graduated from Cornell University with a BA in Government and Biological Sciences.

Before that, she managed Fortune 500 technology projects at a San Francisco consultancy she helped found, and taught high school Spanish in her home state of Mississippi. She holds a BA in History from Brown University and an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School.

A member of the African Union's High-Level Panel on Emerging Technologies since 2017, he is a Fellow of India's National Academy of Agricultural Sciences and of the African Academy of Sciences. He holds a PhD in Plant Breeding and Integrated Pest Management from the University of Arkansas.

He also serves on the Governing Board of K. J. Somaiya Institute of Engineering and Information Technology and the Academic Council of Somaiya Vidyavihar, Mumbai, India. He previously led the Foundation as its President.
